Both cars in Orange Pop Drag Racing compete in the Outlaw Anglia class. Take a look at the August edition of Custom Car Magazine there is a four page feature on the fordson. The original Pop was included in a feature on televisions 5th Gear, Season 1 Episode 09. Our second appearance onto the television screen was on Wheeler Dealers, with Sky having shown the Orange Pop in 2013 being driven at the McLaren Test Track. Our third appearance was of both vehicles on channel 5 Car Wars.

Simon Barlow and the Orange Pop team have been competing in the Outlaw Anglia class in British Drag Racing since 2005. Having successfully campaigned the 1954 steel bodied ford popular down to an 8.81 second quarter mile on a box chassis which is unheard of!!

The keys were then passed over to Simon’s partner Michelle,starting with a 350 cubic inch small block Chevy, to start with. Michelle has been very successful with the car smashing through her own P.B’s at race meetings. So Simon and Michelle decided it was now time to upgrade to a 434 cubic inch small block Scott shafiroff engine. Michelle will now start next season with a full upgrade of engine/gearbox etc. Look out for it next year.

Simon Barlow then began the huge undertaking of planning and building the current race machine in 2012. ‘The Boss’ was built by renowned chassis builder Jon Webster who fabricated a top specification chrome Moly chassis.

Already in 2015 the team has achieved a second place finish at the Springspeed Nationals at Shakespeare County Raceway and in addition ran a new personal best time to date of 8.01 seconds at over 171 mph. 2018 will be the best year yet. Definitely a team to look out for.
